One million bottles of beer on the wall.... (you know the rest!)

In what can only be described as pure beauty, the Tibetan monks decided to create a building made solely of glass beer bottles, as shown in greenUPGRADER (link)

It's actually really quite beautiful, and what's even more interesting is that they had it made at no cost whatsoever.

The thing which rings in my head however is that in a sense, doesn't the building create a purpose for drinking then? It also raised another question in my mind which was that there should be a push towards using glass bottles for EVERY drink bottle (sure, this sounds ridiculous, but think about it logistically, sand + fire = glass).

There is a dying art of Glass-blowers, I met one who was absolutely fantastic in Canada last year. More glass use would mean that there would be a push towards people possibly appreciating glass more, and using it as an artistic form.

Also, think about the benefits there are from using glass compared to using plastic. Sure, both are recyclable, but glass is a better process to use. The argument of manufacturing the glass can (and often is) brought up, but lets be honest here, Glass needs high temperatures to be formed and then processed during the cool down period, this either means a bloody hot fire, or use of electricity, to melt the sand particles into a liquid state which then cools to form a solid (duh).

The fire would mean cutting down trees, which we can't have, and the electricity currently would mean using an unsustainable method which includes using a beautiful thing called coal. What if solar panels were used instead to power the engines which melt the sand into glass? It would be the most sustainable method of manufacturing glass, and it would be creating an environmental cycle, where nature works with nature to create a product which is able to be recycled repetitively throughout time.

Still, the monks did make quite a lovely temple.

I Like Monkeys

I like monkeys.

The pet store was selling them for five cents a piece. I thought that
odd since they were normally a couple thousand each. I decided not to
look a gift horse in the mouth. I bought 200. I like monkeys.

I took my 200 monkeys home. I have a big car. I let one drive. His
name was Sigmund. He was retarded. In fact, none of them were really
bright. They kept punching themselves in their genitals. I laughed.
Then they punched my genitals. I stopped laughing.

I herded them into my room. They didn't adapt very well to their new
environment. They would screech, hurl themselves off of the couch at
high speeds and slam into the wall. Although humorous at first, the
spectacle lost its novelty halfway into its third hour.

Two hours later I found out why all the monkeys were so inexpensive:
they all died. No apparent reason. They all just sorta' dropped dead.
Kinda' like when you buy a goldfish and it dies five hours later. Damn
cheap monkeys.

I didn't know what to do. There were 200 dead monkeys lying all over my
room, on the bed, in the dresser, hanging from my bookcase. It looked
like I had 200 throw rugs.

I tried to flush one down the toilet. It didn't work. It got stuck.
Then I had one dead, wet monkey and 199 dead, dry monkeys.

I tried pretending that they were just stuffed animals. That worked for
a while, that is until they began to decompose. It started to smell real
bad.

I had to pee but there was a dead monkey in the toilet and I didn't want
to call the plumber. I was embarrassed.

I tried to slow down the decomposition by freezing them. Unfortunately
there was only enough room for two monkeys at a time so I had to change
them every 30 seconds. I also had to eat all the food in the freezer so
it didn't all go bad.

I tried burning them. Little did I know my bed was flammable. I had to
extinguish the fire.

Then I had one dead, wet monkey in my toilet, two dead, frozen monkeys in
my freezer, and 197 dead, charred monkeys in a pile on my bed. The odor
wasn't improving.

I became agitated at my inability to dispose of my monkeys and to use the
bathroom. I severely beat one of my monkeys. I felt better.

I tried throwing them way but the garbage man said that the city wasn't
allowed to dispose of charred primates. I told him that I had a wet
one. He couldn't take that one either. I didn't bother asking about the
frozen ones.

I finally arrived at a solution. I gave them out as Christmas gifts. My
friends didn't know quite what to say. They pretended that they like
them but I could tell they were lying. Ingrates. So I punched them in
the genitals.

I decided to write a pretty lame blog today,

I'm going to write about my life, not so some sicko off the internet can get his jollies over someone divulging their inner thoughts (but good luck to you if you get off on that, it's slightly admirable), but because i've had a lot of shit going down in my life over the last 5 months.

Earlier in the year I arrived home from my trip around America. It was an absolutely amazing trip, and one which I do not believe I'll ever forget. I traveled for 68 days over 29 states and did all of this with my mum. She is truly an adorable woman who is a fantastic primary school teacher (sure I'm biased), but she gave up more than I'd ever expected her to to do the trip. All of our savings went towards the trip and we've been living very tightly for the past 5 months. It's not easy, and I've not had a job over this time period as well, which isn't the smartest thing to do either, I know, however my mum was doing teaching as a CRT (casual relief teacher), and wasn't getting much work doing that, so she applied for a job overseas.

She got a job overseas, and is leaving Australia in two weeks for Khartoum, Sudan on a two year teaching position. It is the first time i've ever had to live without my mum for a period longer than a week. I'll admit, I'm well and truly shit scared.

This is for more than one reason though. I don't have a job yet (currently applying like crazy), I still have a semester of uni left (which makes getting a job harder), and I have to get housemates (who I'm advertising for as well).

In the middle of all of this I found that certain, basically all, of my friends were supporting me with these issues, and I'll admit, I don't talk about them often to them, not because i don't trust them, but because it's really hard to come to grips with the reality of the issue. I found that one of my 'friends' wasn't exactly being supportive, and hadn't been for a few years, so inevitably I ended the friendship (something which 7 months ago would not be even conceivable that I would do).

Life is going to be interesting for me over this period of time, heck, it already is. Please excuse me for not being who you may know me as being, I'm going through a weird time, and am likely to cry a lot (sadly, I'm a very emotional person, and don't mind hiding it).

With all that out in the open, life is going to be interesting, but as with each challenge, we all learn to get a move on and get with it.

It's rare that I get so absolutely bored that I can't be bothered doing anything, but am motivated to do everything. I was trying to call my best friend, but they weren't home, so I made pancakes and MMS'd the picture to another friend of mine.

I was motivated enough to figure out how to post pictures onto my facebook, I constantly put it off because I can.

I have an essay that needs to be done, instead I decided to go and look at all the blogs which I neglected to look at in the busy essay period of uni, all 956 have been read now.

It's a weird bored, I actually did a lot, just couldn't be bothered, and it's not procrastination, because I know that I was actually doing stuff that had to be done. Heck, I even moved a carpet.

So I've started this blog, and I left it a while because of my final essays (no I do not have exams, get fucked if you think that I do, I study a course which believes that exams are the root of unnecessary stress and a heightened suicide rate (funny because it's true)).

Anyway, during my time away from this blogging device (virtual as it may be), I've decided to do a mixture of my opinion on topics, reviewing things, talking about random shit, and that ever-so-present thing called my life.

Yes, I'm going to make the blog also about my life, because mainly, I need to vent. A LOT!

I used to vent all the time on my myspace blog, which I've stopped ever since coming over to this blogging station (I just felt it was nicer here).

Contradict much?

I've found a few contradictions over the last few days, and seriously, it's starting to surprise me. Mainly because they are things which people aren't talking about (from the people who I talk to, yes, they may be bland and socially retarded, but brick walls have feelings too!)

Did you know that in Australia it's National Privacy Awareness Week?

Yes, it is, and it's a very important event to celebrate, so much so that the government is creating a competition (follow the link above, and you'll see). But have a look for any contradictions in their flyer. Students have to submit a 2 minute video about what privacy is, and what it means to them (for those too lazy to click a link).

Essentially, that's fantastic. The prize is a little odd though. People who enter have the chance to win a Video Camera.

(Apparently Upskirt.com needed some new material, and A Current Affair and Today Tonight needed more footage of neighbours not talking to each other). This seriously is a massive contradiction to what national privacy week is all about. Now before people go off their bush at me for arguing this point, I'm not that naive to admit that the competition is actually about online privacy (always important). I believe all forms of privacy are important, so much so that I would be surprised to see if any young people submitted their video based around the workings of ASIO (Australia's secrecy intelligence office for those who don't know).

But it's not JUST the national campaigns which I'm willing to say contradict themselves.

Cascade Beer have recently been promoting a new revolutionary beer, Cascade Green. Apparently this beer is made completely from recycled or natural electricity and the entire process is naturally powered.

This one may not be that much of a contradiction, I'm aware of this, however, I ask the question, where is the information around how the bottle is made, how the cap is manufactured, and where the stickers are created from.

Are the bottles made with solar power, or are they produced over in china like a majority of other bottles and cans? Are the stickers made from recycled products and printed with biodegradable inks as well as their adhesive glue being biodegradable? How long does it take for these products to decompose?

The last thing that I can really talk about is how a movie has been remade within LESS than 5 years. Remember that beautiful movie with Eric Bana, The Hulk, released in 2003? It's been remade and is being released in a few weeks time in Australia, creatively renamed as being 'The Incredible Hulk'. Different actors, very similar story line, same green skin, possibly less advertising has been around the new one though, even though it's been touted as being bigger and a better source of income for the movie.

I've not seen either movie, so I'll leave it to the greatest critics (the viewers) to decide on this one.

Have a listen while I introduce an artist who has been around for a while, but to little knowledge to most Australians.

Matt Pokora is a French artist who identifies as being a rap artist, which is always interesting when they release an album in English. His latest album, MP3, is a fascinating mix which includes the work of Timberland (does this guy sleep?). There is a good mix of songs that will be hits on the dancefloor, and songs which will be great for tears when your out of love, in lust, or just plan ol' depressed (crack a listen to 'Through These Eyes')

He has a great new video which features Verse called "They Talk Sh*t About Me", very catchy, and it's quite an ingenious video clip (even if I say so myself, which I shall).

Ok, so we all want to save the world. who doesn't? (apart for those without anything ethically minded, but that's ok, they're chowing down on about 17 big macs right now clogging up their arteries with lard and grease. but we love them still :D ) anyway...

everyone wants to save the world, allegedly, so how about the world starts doing something about it.

we're in a cyber world now, everything and anything can happen.

so why not do something interesting.

there's another search engine in town called Ecocho and their saying is that you search, we grow trees.

so if you do 1000 searches, they'll plant two trees. they gain money from your search (a mixture of results from yahoo and google), and then they gain profit from a publicly listed organisation to buy and plant a tree. in the end it works out and makes sense.

but what about another website which can test your brain in a linguistic manner?

FreeRice is a creative website which tests your brain out in using a series of multiple choice questions to see if you know what certain words mean. it's not TOO difficult, but it can get harder, each question you get right equals 20 gain of rice. Being an addictive game, it's always good for a nice little challenge.

The website is sponsored by the advertising bar which is at the bottom of the page and is created by the UN World Food program. you've gotta click the right words to save the worlds future. it's simple, easy, and ultimately educational.

Ok, I love music, and lets be honest, who doesn't?

I accidentally came across this fantastic music video of The Teenages "Make It Happen".

I just thought it would be a nice little good luck wish to anyone who has exams or tedious essays coming up soon to their due dates.

One thing that I can say is that it's an interesting thing when there are assignments. There are two kinds of people. Those who study (and are good at it), and those who attempt to study, but procrastinate even more. Eventually, it gets done.

I'm procrastinating right now by writing this, I've got full intention of working on my assignment, I just can't be farked doing anything

but back to the video clip.

Seriously, watching it made me feel like I didn't need to remember that I was in the year 2008, but more 1980. The video has left me feeling a little woozy and almost like I've taken one of the best drugs for false illusions, without being addictive or licking cane toads.

I can't say that it's my fave song of the moment, however, I can say this, it really is catching, and when studying exams, it sure sends a message across.

I could go on to talk about The Teenagers in general, however, there are other blogs that are doing a great job at that already (see The Music Slut)

http://taggalaxy.de/ is an amazing website.

You type in a tag on any topic which your interested in, and it will create a sphere which then turns into a small galaxy which suggests other tags that relate to the one that you've originally typed in and searched.

Then, clicking on the planet which you want to see, the website then connects with Flickr and shows you a planet of pictures. Most tags have many hundreds of thousands of photos, so you can always click next which is displayed at the middle section at the top of the page.

If you see a picture that you like, you can click it, it then expands and shows you a slightly more enlarged copy which gives you a better idea of how you could use the picture.

If you then decide that you like that picture, click on the picture again and it creates an even larger version, with the pictures description and a link to its Flickr page.

It's a creative website, which definitely requires a decent net speed, however, it's helpful if your ever looking for pictures that relate to an assignment or powerpoint presentation.

I was just listening to some music history, if you can consider the Jackson 5's song "ABC" as being historic, and it got me wondering. What happened to the dances that everyone knew?

May I mention the certain dance that everyone loves to love and nearly bust everything they've got to make sure they're on the dance floor to do - - - oh yes, the Nutbush!

Yes, that dance that everyone loves to love and loves to love even more.

But where did those dance steps come from? Let alone the costumes!

The moves are simple, so simple people from the ages of 13 months to 90 can do it.

left left,
right right,
left back left back,
right back, right back,
right knee, right knee,
left knee, left knee,
right kick,
left kick,
bring together, criss cross,
jump and turn 90 degrees left.

They are the simple steps which practically everyone knows.

So what's happened to the simple dance moves?

Just looking at what's currently on offer, it's likely to say that there aren't any which the older generations can perform, let alone many people that these songs and movies are aimed towards (yet they do love the songs, and that's all that matters).

Facebook much?

Like a growing majority, I too have a facebook account. A large number of my friends are on it, and they're awesome.

Interesting thing though, I've constantly got over 400 app's waiting for me to accept them, and the thing is, it takes too frikken long to add them, and then there's the guilt associated with having to spam your friends with adding it as well (otherwise you don't get to see the content). it's stupid in that regard.

My thing is, why is it "better" than myspace?

I love myspace still, but i have noticed myself not using it as much as i used to.

Facebook takes over peoples lives because it makes them competitive with their friends (games you can play against each other), poking each other, messaging random content, looking for love... and so on.

This social revolution is an interesting theory though. People are wanting to come together more and more, but mainly online.

Could this be because of the constant fear which is driven into our lives by the media? fears of bombing, fears of violence and possible death (from standing on a drugged up echidna?)

I dunno, i don't really care, i've got more app's to add now.

Parents hope potter boy's death not in vain

That link above will take you to the news report based on a young person who was stabbed to death by someone outside a pub.

I was brought to tears this morning listening to it on the radio. This is one of the main reasons why I personally don't understand what is going on in the world.

First of all, what is the point of carrying a knife around, outside of the house?

Second of all, why the fuck would you kill someone with a knife outside a pub?

It's events like this which make me feel as if we need more CCTV cameras out and about. That said, I'm generally not an advocate for CCTV.

I didn't know this person, apart for hearing that he is in the Harry Potter movie, but I will say this much. A life is a life, even if I absolutely hated someone, I would never wish harm upon them, nor would I ever want them dead.

They make the Hamburgers !

Ah yes, time for my first blog in regards to food. :D

I went to the local market yesterday, and my regular hamburger stall wasn't there. After contemplating which of the other 5 stores I should go to, I decided on the one displayed in the picture.

For about $16 I was able to score two MASSIVE burgers (with the lot) and two cans of drink. the burgers were $6 each and the drinks equalled $3.20 (i think).

There was a downside though, this place, even though it was made "fresh" and whatnot had a really large issue, make that two really large issues. I placed my order at 12.30, and got the burgers at 1.10. Being told that I would get my meal within 15 minutes is a bit of a bullshit scenario.

I didn't take a photo of the burger, because after waiting 40 minutes, I had to drive like a maniac to the city for my cousins confirmation. Here's a description though, Aesthetically, the burger looked more than pleasing, it was massive (think the way a big mac has always been advertised as being BIG instead of the easy to bite way that it is), this is made up of a 3 cm high bun (each side) and then about half a lettuce (sliced), tomato, BBQ'd onion, a 4 cm thick meat pattie which was larger than the bun, an egg, 3 or 4 slices of bacon, and about 8 slices of ham.

This was a burger to be reckoned with. Size and proportion made you think you were going to be eating the Hummer of cars.

Reality set in though.

The burger was beautiful, if you could get your mouth around it, it was easier to pull the thing apart and try and eat the pieces gracefully that way. The onions weren't fully cooked, neither was the bacon, the pattie was crumbling away(no egg was used in the mix), and there really was far too much lettuce .

I guess at the end of the day, the burger might have been nicer, should it have been made with less pressure (considering the amount of people ordering).

Cost of the burger was decent, considering how much you got, but the quality was poor unfortunately. I miss my regular burger people :(

Seriously, this weekend has been amazing, i've witnessed about 19 different birthday parties every day this weekend.

It's bizzare. However, i must admit i've done pretty well, i've been to 3 parties in 2 days, and tomorrow i'm also attending my little cousin's re-confirmation (expect a blog based on religion after that one).

Uni assignments are meant to be getting done, however, i just can't be fucked doing any of them.

Been like that all semester, i don't know why.

I'm looking at possibly doing honors next year, should i?

oh well, sorry the blog isn't random today!

Cartoons and Game shows!

I was sitting around just doing nothing important (see: assignments), and I was thinking outside of what I was doing, which always happens.

Anyway, the idea came in to my head that I've not actually seen Darkwing Duck for ages, and then i was thinking, gee, it's been even longer since I've seen Captain Planet, and Banana Man, and Gizmo, and so on so on. I seriously used to watch a stupid amount of TV Cartoons.

So I searched for some intro's and found 30 minutes worth. I remember most of them, sadly, and couldn't put my finger on 10 of them. Maybe they weren't released in Australia? who knows.

What really surprised me though was that I've actually found that I feel sympathetic towards the current generation of young people, mainly because they don't have the same quality of shows that we used to have.

What happened to shows like Gummi Bears? Why don't you find anything like them in Disneyland, or even California Adventure Park?

Why don't we have the same imagination provoking shows that we used to have? Are young people "too grown up" to watch this cotton candy material?

What ever it is, it's scary, and it should be promoted more. Bring back the shows which had a complete funny side to their story lines, but still promoted fantastic moral and ethical guidance. Shows like Captain Planet which promoted a positive living style, one which encouraged young people to get their families involved in being environmentally sustainable. (considering that this show was in the 80's, i guess we knew about global warming before it was obviously getting out of hand).

Which then gets me onto another stream of TV shows, very similar to cartoons (when you think about it), Game Shows.

This is probably the best video medley that I've been able to get my hands on, sure it's a Logie nomination which is won by Millionaire, however it does show a large range of shows which were awesome.

It only shows a little from one of my all time favourites though.

Don't forget your toothbrush!

So i've decided to track down an entire episode, just for laughters sake!

On another note, does anyone remember that beautiful show "Hey Hey It's Saturday"?

I've been wanting it to come back for ages, and it always feels like it's in the air.

Lets think about this, get rid of Darrell Sommers as the host (he is alright, but getting to old for that format), and get someone like Tim Ferguson (he used to host "Don't forget your toothbrush") or Paul McDermot to host the new version of the show.

Seriously! Bring back the cheese to TV. It is sorely missed! I am so over shows being all so serious, there are about a billion murder or hospital shows on TV at the moment.

A new beginning.... of the hairy kind

Today, in respect of having a great day of practically no stress, and going out for lunch with a new friend, I decided to celebrate having a new blog.

Oh yes, I did something very bold and new, and daring and bold and new, and bald..... i mean what?

Yup, while that isn't my beautiful self (for the sake of a little self annonimising - mainly for when I do reviews in case people want to sue me).

I've shaved my head. And I love it!

Ok, I'll be the first to admit, my head isn't that spectacular, however, it seriously needed to get some loving action, and if I could afford that special laser surgery which would magically make my hair grow and come back, I'd go for it.

In fact, i could do a little fund-raiser where people donate money to me and in return, I'll let them WAX my chest and back.

Oh yes, this would be amazing. Excruciatingly painful, and would mean that i need a LOT of wax, and would have the pleasure in making people gag at the sight of me topless, heck, it's how I wake up when I look in the mirror each morning.

Ah well, that's how life is! so..... any donation anyone? ? ?

So, Its time to start something new.

My name is Kris, I'm someone who likes to think, a lot!

I've written in blogs before, I'm not going to say that I'm the best, however, lets start by discussing how I'm likely to write these things.

This blog, is mainly going to be an adventure of my life, I'll try to update it as much as possible, but I sure can't promise that it will happen.

I want to review some restaurants (they will mainly be in the Melbourne Metropolitan areas for those playing at home, this is in Australia "G'Day"), and we're not talking the la-di-da ones which cost a body organ or two, we're talking restaurants which uni students and young people can mostly afford.

I want to talk about music, either by just posting the lyrics and saying what it means to me, or by just talking about the artists.

I want to look at movies and discuss it (this includes short movies and video clips).

Not only do I want to look at those things, but I'm also going to talk about myself, my life, and the interestingly boring things which happen in it.

I guess that's how everything should begin.

As for the next entry, only time will tell.
